The Happy Veggie Gardener Story
Hear It From Me
Hi, I'm Noelia! I'm a gardener, canner, mom, grandma, nurse, and Florida snowbird living on black tea, Law and Order SVU, and exploring historical places. I grew up following my mom around the kitchen, and have LOVED being a homemaker as a mom myself, making meals and cookies from scratch and learning how to can so that the food I prepared was all homegrown. That is so incredibly fulfilling.

For years, I have served as a useful source to those seeking inspiration, help, or advice. I finally decided to own that role and be intentional about it. I started writing about my passions, my thoughts, and curious wonderings about our world. I founded Happy Veggie Gardener with a mission to give others a taste of what goes on in my mind, and I have been at it ever since.

My daughter, Cindi, helped me start this blog for you and you'll be hearing from her too.
My gardening journey began over 30 years ago when my late husband and I moved out of New York City to rural Narrowsburg, NY on the Delaware River. Gardening has been a way to be creative while feeding my family healthy, wholesome foods right from our backyard.

But what I didn't realize was how many bugs or animals would try to destroy the plants I'd spent so much time on, or what to use for a more organic approach to rid them (instead of harmful pesticides), or that planting certain plants next to each other could either prevent fruits from growing or help them flourish, or how to make the most out of the space you've got.

Through much of my own trial and error, I figured out how to fix those problems, and one of the goals of Happy Veggie Gardener is to help you do the same.

Over the years, gardening became a pasttime that my youngest daughter and I now get to share. Isn't that beautiful? Gardening is a way for you to connect more deeply with your loved ones.

My goal is to help you learn how to feed your family from your backyard without it taking years and years to learn like I did.

Take some time to explore the blog, read something interesting, and feel free to reach out if you would like to collaborate on a project together.
